Chris Hamilton bor i Göteborg och räknas som Sveriges bästa skateboardfrisör.
Redaktionen träffade Chris på Slashin i Malmö för några snabba frågor!
1. Name, age?
Chris ”Hamy” Hamilton , 30 years old!
2. Where are you from and why do you live in Gothenburg?
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia (REDNECK ALERT). I moved to the San Francisco Bay area when I was ten. I met a swedish girl named Lena Krantz, who talked me in to moving to Gothenburg with her. I have lived here for 5 years now. It’s more calm and less stress living in Sweden compared to California. There’s not as many crazy people here so it’s much more comfortable for me right now.
3. How long have you been skateboarding?
Since 1985! My friends got me into it. We skated everywhere together! First I just used it for transportation to school, then I started getting into tricks, launch ramps, backyard ramps, curbs and shit. Then I started freestyling and skating pools and banks, then vert and even some dirtboarding.. My first board was a Santa Cruz Keith Meek SLASHER, with Gullwing trucks and big ass Powell 3 wheels!
4. Favourite terrain and place to skate?
Pools, Vert, spines. Just riding fast and carving around feels more exciting to me than doing tricks over a pyramid or skating a ledge all day. There is way more to skateboarding than just doing tech tricks! Just cruising FAST, doing long grinds feels nice! Skating a little of everything is the best!!!
5. Tell us a little about your work?
I went to Cosmetology School (Frisör Skola). Its pretty cool to fix peoples hair and do some colors or whatever, make people feel happy! I´ve been doing that for 11 years now!
6. What did you think about the oldschool jam (Slashin) in Malmo?
It was super fun. It’s great when all the skaters get together and have a session. The music was nice! It was hella cool to go out and party after and hanging out with Leon and the Gubb skaters from Gothenburg..
7. Favourite skater?
Physco Pete (the ox) Collpits!
8. Tell us a little about your trip back to San Jose this Christmas?
It was nonstop skating, driving from park to park. Hanging out with alot of my old skater buddies. Trying to visit everyone, going back and forth from San francisco to Santa Cruz to Sunnyvale to San Jose. We ate tons of Mexican food(mmmmmmmmm good!!).
They Sunnyvale skate park is killer. Also we skated the sickest garage bowl ramp ever, it had pool coping and a nine foot cradle!!!
9. What´s a perfect board set up?
An 8” light board with good concave. Independent trucks and at least 55mm wheels, but I prefer 57’s!
10. What´s your plans for 2005?
Keep working as a hair dresser at Modig HårDesign. Skate vert at Area 51. Just try to skate more often and as hard as possible. Have fun!
11. Sponsors?
Manticore Skateboards, Fox Sportwear, Concrete Store, Shitbird Wheels, Rockets Bearings (2fun.se)
12. Last word?
Late!
